|Economists are criticizing the tariff agreement with Donald Trump, saying it's costing Europe even more than it initially appears. And the EU could have gotten more out of it.
Olivier Blanchard has seen a lot of the world. The French economist served for years as chief economist of the International Monetary Fund in Washington . Before and after that, he taught at the elite American university MIT. Blanchard delivers a clear verdict on the agreement that US President Donald Trump forced on Europe : "What I feared has happened. A completely unequal 'deal,'" writes Blanchard . A blanket tariff of 15 percent on European exports to the United States is "undoubtedly a defeat for the EU."
